Because this payasam is made with moong dal| Green Dal which is a major crop in South India. So, no need to search for any ingredient coming overseas.

1. Moong Dal is a good source of protein and fibre. So, it helps in weight management. 2. Rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. 3. It is a protein rich, no fat food, it may reduce the risk of heart diseases. 4. The rich amount of potassium, magnesium and fiber in moong dal may helps in reducing blood pressure.
Dry roast dal till golden brown or till nice aroma. Add water and soak for 10 minutes.
Pressure cook dal till mushy. Let the pressure gets released by itself.
Roast cashew nuts in ghee. Add cooked dal, jaggery powder, cardamom and a pinch of salt. Let it boil in low flame for 10 minutes.

Add 1 cup of coconut milk after the payasam gets cool. Instead you may add small roasted coconut pieces or grated coconut.
