Millet kozhukattai or millet upma kozhukattai is a very common breakfast/snack made from millets.  . It is a perfect option for those who are newly entering the millet diet.

So what makes this recipe so special?

As millets are very nutritious and have lots of health benefits, including millets is unavoidable.

This is an easy to make one pot recipe. Simply, It is a ball with lots of benefits hide in it.

Washing

Wash millets thoroughly till you get clear water.  Drain it in a sieve for a while.

Roasting

Heat a wide pan and dry roast this washed millet till a nice aroma, 1 cup at a time.

Let the roasted millet to cool.

Grind

Pulse it in a mixer jar to rava texture not too fine. As millets are already smaller in size, just 1 to 2 pulses are enough. Now our millet upma rava is ready.

Making Upma

Heat oil and ghee (optional) and add mustard seeds and broken red chilies. Let it splutter.  Now add curry leaves, asafoetida and grated coconut. Sauté for 30 second in low flame.

Now add millet upma rava and mix well. Cover it with a lid and let it cook for 10 minutes in low flame.

Now make kozhukattai or balls from the millet upma. Place the kozhukattai/ balls in a steamer plate and steam for 7 to 10 minutes in low flame.

Now our millet kozhukattai is ready to enjoy. Enjoy this south Indian delicacy hot!
