Soup is a simple way of adding any vegetables or greens to our daily diet. Here I share a simple and tasty moringa soup made from the most nutritious Moringa leaves/ powder.

For consistency and taste I add some pressure cooked Toor dal. For a light spiciness I add crushed pepper, jeera, fennel seeds & salt.

Health Benefits of Moringa Soup

Moringa Leaves is a very nutritious super food which is rich in Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Iron, Riboflavin and Magnesium. It is an all in one solution to most of our health problems.

If we take this moringa leaves in our daily diet then we no longer will have joint pains, iron deficiency and fatigue, hair fall, back pain and digestion problems. This leaves will also help in increasing hemoglobin levels.

Soup is a simple way of adding this moringa leaves to our daily diet. I add some pressure cooked Toor dal. For a light spiciness I add crushed pepper, jeera, fennel seeds & salt.

Ingredients

  1. Moringa Leaves – I prepared this soup with moringa leaves. But we follow the same steps with any greens. If you don’t have fresh moringa leaves then you may add moringa powder.
  2. Toor Dal – Pressured cooked toor dal is added for consistency and to enhance taste.
  3. Salt – Salt is added for seasoning.
  4. Pepper – Pepper is the only spice added to the soup.
  5. Jeera/ Cumin Seeds – Jeera will give a nice flavor to the soup. Also helps in digestion.
  6. Fennel Seeds – Fennel seeds will enhance the taste.

How to make Moringa Soup?

In a pan add cooked toor dal and 2 cups of water and bring them to boil.

Now add, cleaned (don’t remove its finer stems) Moringa Leaves into it and cook till the leaves cooked well. If you add moringa powder then add the powder and let it boil for 2 minutes.

In a mixer jar, add pepper, jeera and fennel seeds and grind them to a slightly coarse powder. Add this to the cooked moringa leaves and mix well. Add salt to taste. Let the soup to combine well with the spice powder and salt (cook for 5 minutes after adding salt and spice).

Add coriander leaves and transfer to a serving bowl.  Enjoy your hot healthy soup.

Tips

  1. Cook the leaves in an open pan otherwise the leaves will change to a dark color instead of a fresh green color.
  2. Add pepper according to your spiciness.
  3. Cook the leaves well otherwise the soup tastes a slight bitter.

  1. Pressure cook 1 teaspoon toor dal to mushy stage. Keep it aside.

  2. Boil 2 cups water in a soup pan. Once it started boiling add a handful of cleaned moringa leaves (stems removed) and cook till the leaves cook well.

    If you add moringa powder then add this to the boiling water and boil for just 1 minute.
  3. Now add mushy toor dal and crushed pepper, cumin & fennel seeds and salt to taste. Let them boil for a minute. Turn off the stove.

  4. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves (optional) and enjoy your healthy green soup, hot.

Note

Take this soup daily if you have any of joint pain or any kind of weakness. You may feel the change in few weeks.
